Rangat Police Dismantles Illicit Liquor Operation in Urmilapur Forest

In a decisive crackdown on illicit activities, the Rangat Police executed a swift operation resulting in the confiscation of a significant quantity of illicit liquor concealed within the dense foliage of the Urmilapur Forest.

The operation, conducted on February 11th, 2024, saw the culmination of coordinated efforts by the Rangat Police, led by Inspector R.K Mazumder, the Station House Officer of PS Rangat. Acting on actionable intelligence, Inspector Mazumder mobilized a specialized team comprising Head Constables Mohan Rao and Pabitra Sikhari, along with Police Constables Pradeep Mathew Topno and K. Mohan.

The team’s meticulous search of the area yielded a substantial haul, including 120 litres of Lehan, alongside containers, various utensils, and timber materials utilized in the clandestine production process. These materials were skillfully concealed within the depths of the jungle, underscoring the sophisticated nature of the illicit liquor operation.

Under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Rangat, and the overarching guidance of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, the Superintendent of Police for the N&M Andaman District, the operation unfolded seamlessly, resulting in a significant blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network operating in the region.

Speaking on the successful operation, Superintendent Geetanjali Khandelwal commended the proactive efforts of the Rangat Police, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating such unlawful activities. She urged the public to continue sharing credible information related to crimes or illegal endeavors, assuring confidentiality and suitable rewards for informants.
