The Office of the Returning Officer is set to host a vibrant Rangoli Competition today, March 30th, at Marina Park Road in Port Blair. The event, themed “Chunav Ka Parv Desh Ka Garv” (Festival of Elections, Pride of the Nation), aims to celebrate the essence of democracy and civic engagement.

Scheduled to commence at 2 p.m., the Rangoli Competition promises to be a colourful affair, with participants showcasing their artistic flair and interpreting the theme through intricate designs. Artists and enthusiasts from across the region are expected to converge at Marina Park to partake in this cultural extravaganza.

In light of the event, the District Magistrate of South Andaman District, exercising authority conferred under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 (Act No. 59 of 1988), in conjunction with the Administration’s Notification dated March 10th, 2008, has issued a notice. It informs the public that Marina Park road will be temporarily closed on March 30th, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. This closure is to ensure smooth facilitation of the Rangoli Competition and to accommodate the influx of participants and spectators.

The Rangoli Competition not only serves as a platform for artistic expression but also underscores the significance of civic participation during electoral processes. As the nation gears up for the General Election, events like these foster a sense of community spirit and democratic fervour among citizens.
