Mr. M P Abdul Rasheed, Director, Ration Rasheed Foundation on 29th of September 2022, wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration and the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman requesting them to provide health care assistance to the ill students of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Port Blair at their homes through an expert medical team.
Mr. Rasheed in his letter informed the authorities that on 16th September 2022, some students of GMSSS, Port Blair complained of severe stomach pain and headache. The school authorities took all the students to G.B Pant Hospital, Port Blair for a check-up and the doctors detained them.
The students were discharged the next day from the hospital. On 28th September 2022, one of the students was again admitted to the hospital and during treatment, the student lost her life.
Mr. Rasheed further informed that other students of the school are reporting similar symptoms, but their parents are not willing to take them to the hospital following the death of one of the students during treatment.
Mr. Rasheed requested the authorities to constitute an expert health team who would regularly visit the homes of the ill students and monitor them until they are fully recovered.
