Re-KYC and Jan Suraksha Campaign by UTLBC Held at Junglighat to Promote Financial Inclusion

A Re-KYC and Jan Suraksha Campaign Camp was organized on Thursday at Khaitan Kalyana Mandapam, Junglighat, by the Union Territory Level Bankers’ Committee (UTLBC), State Bank of India, A&N Islands. The camp covered all bank branches of the Prothrapur Block and aimed at creating awareness on the importance of Re-KYC updation while extending the benefits of social security schemes under the Jan Suraksha umbrella – Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).

Mr. Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, RBI, Kolkata, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was also attended by Mr. Sanatan Mishra, UTLBC Convener and General Manager, SBI, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Tiwari, General Manager, Bank of Baroda, and Mr. Aziz-ur-Rahman, Councillor, SVPMC, along with divisional managers and regional heads of various banks.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Prasad emphasized the timely completion of the Re-KYC exercise to avoid disruption of banking services. He directed banks to complete the process within the week and to step up awareness on cyber fraud prevention, customer protection mechanisms, and the role of the Banking Ombudsman in grievance redressal. Other dignitaries, including Mr. Mishra, Mr. Tiwari, and Mr. Aziz-ur-Rahman, highlighted the importance of KYC compliance and the reach of social security schemes in advancing financial inclusion.

The camp drew active participation from customers, with facilitation counters set up by various banks for on-the-spot Re-KYC updation and enrolments under Jan Suraksha schemes. Bank officials also engaged with customers, clarifying queries related to financial products, social security benefits, and safe banking practices.
