Pahargaon Police Station swiftly took action in response to a complaint filed by Mr. Prasanta Ray, residing in Jodakilan, regarding the theft of valuable jewellery worth approximately Rs. 10 lakh. The stolen items included two gold necklaces, one long chain, three small chains, three finger rings, two pairs of earrings, two bangles, and one earthen mati. An FIR (First Information Report) was registered under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at PS Pahargaon, with SI Viswanand entrusted with the investigation.
Under the guidance of Anushtha Kalia IPS(P), SHO PS Pahargaon, a team comprising SI Viswanand, PC/3015 D Shiv Kumar, and PC/2687 Sandeep Lakra was formed to search for and apprehend the unknown perpetrator. With the cooperation of the complainant’s tenant, the team conducted a thorough search, resulting in the arrest of Keshab Mistry, a private worker residing in Brumvally Basti Kadamtala, now staying in Jodakilan. The stolen property was recovered from his possession.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the accused, Keshab Mistry, had a history of theft, with involvement in multiple cases registered at various police stations. These included FIRs filed under sections 457 and 380 IPC at PS Pahargaon, as well as cases at PS Kadamtala and PS Rangat, indicating a pattern of habitual criminal behaviour.
The successful operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Vikas, IPS, SDPO(S/A), with overall guidance provided by Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, S/Andaman District.
