In a proactive move to bolster healthcare services in rural areas, the District Administration, in conjunction with the District Health Society of South Andaman under the Ayushman Bhavah Campaign, has initiated a two-day Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Camp on the picturesque Little Andaman island. This healthcare initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Science (ANIIMS) and the Directorate of Health Services, A & N Administration.

The RCH Camp, which kicked off on October 9, 2023, at the Primary Health Center (PHC) Hutbay, continued its mission at PHC R.K. Pur on October 10, 2023. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Casper James, Tehsildar of Little Andaman, in the presence of Dr. Rajni Tiwari, Chief Medical Officer I/c, PHC Hutbay, Mr. B. Nagendra, District Programme Manager of District Health Society (South Andaman), and a specialised medical team from ANIIMS. The ANIIMS team included Dr. Reema Dakua from the Department of Paediatrics, Dr. Nazma Sathik from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Dr. Rohith. J from the Department of Surgery, alongside other doctors and paramedical staff.

The Tehsildar of Little Andaman highlighted the importance of providing specialised healthcare services at the community level.

On the first day of the RCH Camp, a total of 273 patients were screened, receiving specialised medical attention in various fields, including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Surgery, and General Medicine. In addition to this, the District Programme Manager of District Health Society (South Andaman) conducted an orientation training session for paramedical staff, focusing on Reproductive Child Health (RCH), HMIS, and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) reporting at PHC Hutbay.
