In a decisive operation against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) arrested a Revenue Department surveyor from Sri Vijaya Puram for accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000. The arrest occurred during a trap operation conducted on 21st January 2025, related to the demarcation of land at Prothrapur.
The operation followed a written complaint filed with the ACU. Acting on the complaint, a dedicated team led by Inspector Rahul, SHO of the ACU Police Station, was assembled. The team included Inspector A. Usman, Sub-Inspector Shibendra Nath Halder, and personnel HC/311 Sanju Kr. Kullu, HC/519 S. Siva Kumar, HC/1516 D. Ajay Kumar, and PC/2214 Anil Yadav. To ensure transparency, the operation was conducted in the presence of two independent witnesses.
The team intercepted the accused, identified as M. Krishna, 53, in Dollygunj as he arrived in a red Maruti Brezza (registration number AN01 R 0335). Following a pre-arranged signal from the complainant, the ACU team apprehended Krishna after he accepted the bribe. The tainted currency notes were recovered, sealed, and seized in the presence of witnesses, adhering to all legal protocols.
The accused was taken to the ACU Police Station along with the seized evidence. An FIR was registered against him under Sections 7 and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), under FIR No. 01/25 dated 21/01/25. He was arrested and produced before the court on 22nd January 2025, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Manish Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP), ACU, and the overall guidance of Mr. Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, ACU.
