RIE-NCERT Bhubaneswar in Collaboration with SIE Organised ‘5-Day Capacity Building Programme for School Librarians on Management and Modernisation of School Libraries’

The Regional Institute of Education, NCERT Bhubaneswar, in partnership with the State Institute of Education (SIE), Port Blair, commenced a ‘5-Day Capacity Building Programme for School Librarians on Management and Modernisation of School Libraries’ from December 11th to 15th, 2023, hosted at SIE, Shiksha Sadan Port Blair. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the capabilities of school librarians in effectively managing and modernising their libraries to facilitate user-friendly access.

The program boasts participation from 40 Key Resource Persons/Librarians representing State Libraries, Secondary, and Senior Secondary Schools across all nine Educational Zones of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The inauguration of the program witnessed the esteemed presence of Mr. R.K. Singh, the Principal of SIE, Port Blair, as the chief guest. He warmly welcomed the Resource Persons, namely Dr. B.K. Jha, Dr. P.L. Negi, and Dr. S. Nagaraj from various Regional Institutes of Education including RIE Mysore, RIE Ajmer, and RIE Bhubaneswar.

The event aims to equip participants with modern techniques and management practices, empowering them to streamline library operations, thereby ensuring efficient and convenient access for users.

Throughout the five-day program, attendees will engage in workshops, discussions, and hands-on sessions focused on library automation, resource management, and strategies to enhance library functionalities within educational institutions.

This collaborative effort between RIE Bhubaneswar and SIE Port Blair signifies a concerted step towards enhancing educational resources and facilitating enriched learning environments across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ schools.
