The Office of the Returning Officer (RO) for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency has recently taken stringent measures against reported violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Complaints have been lodged regarding the distribution of free ration kits and cash by certain parties in an attempt to influence voters.

In response to these allegations, the Returning Officer, ANIPC has issued Show Cause Notices to the alleged offenders. The RO has firmly reminded all contesting candidates and political parties of their obligation to adhere to the MCC guidelines throughout the election campaign.

The defaulters have been put on notice and further action as per law will be taken.

All contesting candidates and political entities have been asked to uphold the principles of ethical electioneering and refrain from engaging in any activities that violate the MCC guidelines. The RO reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone violating the MCC.

The ANIPC’s proactive stance underscores its commitment to ensuring the integrity and fairness of the electoral process in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency. As the General Elections draw nearer, the electoral authorities remain vigilant in monitoring and addressing any breaches of conduct to uphold the democratic values of the nation.
