Rotary Club Next Gen Port Blair has handed over a Smart TV to Government Middle School (GMS), Hanspuri, Mayabunder, as part of its ongoing efforts to support education in remote areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The Smart TV was formally handed over at the Club President’s office, where Mr. Ravi, a teacher from GMS Hanspuri, received the equipment on behalf of the school. The handover was carried out by Rtn. Mandeep Grewal, President, Rotary Club Next Gen Port Blair, in the presence of Rtn. M. Vignesh, General Secretary, and Rtn. Dakshin Basker, a member of the club.

GMS Hanspuri is situated in a remote and outskirt area of Mayabunder, where students and staff travel nearly three hours by dinghy boat to reach the school. The institution operates primarily on inverter and solar power, as regular electricity supply is available only after 5:00 pm. In view of these challenges, the Smart TV is expected to significantly enhance digital and visual learning, providing students with improved access to educational content and modern teaching tools.

Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Mandeep Grewal said education plays a crucial role in transforming lives, particularly in remote and challenging regions. He stated that the Smart TV initiative aims to bridge the digital learning gap and ensure that students, irrespective of geographical constraints, have access to better learning resources. He added that Rotary Club Next Gen Port Blair would continue to undertake meaningful projects with a lasting social impact.

As a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Ravi presented a memento to Rotary Club Next Gen Port Blair, acknowledging the club’s support and contribution to the school.

Rotary Club Next Gen Port Blair reiterated its commitment to the Rotary principle of “Service Above Self” and to working towards inclusive development and positive change across the islands.
