On the occasion of International Literacy Day, Rotary Club Nextgen Port Blair took a significant step towards empowering young girls by sponsoring the education of 12 students from Balika Niketan, a home for underprivileged girls in Port Blair. The club covered the school fees of 11 girls and the college fee of one student.

The formal handover ceremony was held at Balika Niketan, where Club President Rtn. Mandeep Grewal, accompanied by fellow club members, personally handed over the financial support to the institution’s in-charge and team. The gesture underscores the club’s commitment to promoting literacy and providing equal educational opportunities, particularly for the girl child.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mandeep Grewal said, “Education is the most powerful tool we can provide to shape a better future. On International Literacy Day, Rotary Club Nextgen is proud to support these bright young minds in their journey towards academic and personal success.”

The initiative aligns with Rotary International’s focus on Basic Education and Literacy and reflects Rotary Club Nextgen Port Blair’s continued efforts to make a lasting impact on the community’s youth.

The event was attended by club members, Balika Niketan staff, and the students, who expressed their gratitude and shared their aspirations for the future.
