Rotary Club Organises Oral Health Awareness Programme-Cum-Dental Check-up Camp at ICAR-CIARI

The Rotary Club of Port Blair, in collaboration with Dinesh Dental Clinic, Goalghar, and the CIARI Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA), organised an Oral Health Awareness Programme-cum-Dental Check-up Camp at the Bathu Basti campus of ICAR–Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering during the inaugural session, Dr Jai Sunder, Director (A), ICAR-CIARI, emphasised the importance of social welfare initiatives in the overall development of society. He highlighted the significant role played by Rotary Clubs in promoting community welfare and stressed the need for organising regular health camps on various aspects of healthcare, particularly for the benefit of both permanent and contractual employees of the institute.

Mr S.P. Deepak Kumar, President of the Rotary Club of Port Blair, briefed the audience on the various social and community-oriented activities undertaken by the club across different parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the recent past. He expressed satisfaction that the club was organising its first such health camp for the benefit of CIARI employees.

Dr Dinesh, Dental Surgeon and proprietor of Dinesh Dental Clinic, also addressed the programme and assured that similar social development and healthcare initiatives would be undertaken by the Rotary Club in the future. Mr Dinakaran, Former President of the Rotary Club of Port Blair, was also present on the occasion and interacted with CIARI scientists during the programme.

The programme was coordinated by Dr Pooja Bohra, Senior Scientist and General Secretary of CIARIEWA. Around 55 staff members of the institute benefited from the camp. Dental consultation services were provided by Dr Dinesh, Dental Surgeon, and Dr Snehesh, Periodontist and Implantologist, while essential medicines and other aids were distributed to the participants.
