Runway of Port Blair Airport to be Available for 20+ Days Every Month after Recommencement of Resurfacing Work Post Monsoon

The Runway Resurfacing work for Port Blair Airport (Veer Savarkar International Airport) will be carried out post monsoon. The full length of the runway of the airport will be available for landing and takeoff of flights between 5:45 Hrs and 1615 Hrs for 20+ days every month.

Andaman and Nicobar Command has released a list of dates when the full length of Runway will be made available from 5:45 Hrs to 1615 Hrs between 22nd October 2022 to 31st March 2023.

After recommencement of work the runway will be available from 22nd to 31st in October 2022, in November 2022 the runway will be available from 5th to 14th and 19th to 28th, in December 2022 the runway will be available from 3rd to 12th, 17th to 26th and on 31st, in January 2023 the runway will be available from 1st to 9th, 14th to 23rd and 28th to 31st, in February 2023 the runway will be available from 1st to 6th, 11th to 20th and 25th to 28th and in March 2023 the runway will be available from 1st to 6th, 11th to 20th and 25th to 31st.

The availability of the runway for landing and takeoff of flights on most days of the month will ensure that tourism doesn’t severely get affected during the peak season due to the maintenance work.
