Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Port Blair, is set to conduct selection trials for young athletes aged 10 to 14 years. The trials will take place from June 5 to 7, 2024, at the SAI Training Centre, Netaji Stadium, aiming to induct talented athletes into both residential and non-residential schemes across various disciplines.
The selection trials will be held for the following sports and vacancies:
1. Football: Residential: 3 Girls, Non-Residential: 5 Girls, Remarks: Preference will be given to medalists at the District, State, or School level.
2. Kayaking & Canoeing: Residential: 4 Boys and 4 Girls, Non-Residential: Nil, Remarks: Candidates must be able to swim at least 15 meters. Preference will be given to medalists at the District, State, or School level.
3. Rowing: Residential: 7 Boys and 4 Girls, Non-Residential: Nil, Remarks: Candidates must be able to swim at least 15 meters. Preference will be given to medalists at the District, State, or School level.
Eligible sportspersons who meet the criteria are invited to participate in the selection trials. The evaluation will include age verification, a battery of tests, skill assessments specific to each discipline, and medical fitness examinations.
Athletes selected for the SAI, STC residential scheme will receive a comprehensive range of benefits, including free lodging, boarding, sports kits, competition exposure, educational expenses, medical insurance, and other miscellaneous expenses.
Aspiring candidates are required to report at the SAI Training Centre, Netaji Stadium, from June 5 to 7 at 9:30 AM with the necessary documents: Original Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, Sports Certificate, and four passport-sized photos.
