In a remarkable achievement, athletes from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) STC Sri Vijaya Puram brought home a total of 16 medals at the 9th All India Inter SAI Canoe Sprint Tournament 2024-25, held at the SAI NCOE in Allepey, Kerala.
The athletes, hailing from different parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, showcased exceptional talent, with P. Nirmala leading the charge by securing seven medals. Rishika Kumari Ekka closely followed, winning six medals. Other medalists included Shamir Das, S. Yuvaraj, and S. Prem, who all contributed to the impressive medal haul.
This marks the highest medal tally for SAI STC Sri Vijaya Puram in recent years, reflecting the athletes’ dedication and the quality of training they received.
The athletes were mentored by SAI coaches Mr. Karma Toppo and Mr. Srimatio Bishnoi, whose expert guidance played a pivotal role in their success.
The victorious athletes were congratulated by the Director General of Police, A&N Islands, Mr. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS. He lauded their achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, urging them to bring even more medals to the Islands in the future.
