The Department of Agriculture has commenced the sale of chemical fertilisers through its Agriculture Sub-Depots across the Union Territory, providing essential inputs to farmers at subsidised rates under the UT Plan scheme.
According to the Department, fertilisers are available for purchase at subsidised prices at the nearest Agriculture Sub-Depots, ensuring easy access for the farming community. Farmers have been strongly advised to avoid purchasing fertilisers from unauthorised dealers or illegal sources, as such products may be substandard and could adversely affect crops, soil health and human safety.
The Department has also issued a warning against the illegal or unauthorised sale of chemical fertilisers, stating that strict action will be taken against violators under the provisions of the Fertilizer Control Order (FCO), 1985.
Appealing to the farming community, the Department urged farmers to procure quality subsidised fertilisers only from official Agriculture Sub-Depots to promote sustainable agricultural development in the region.
For further information and guidance, farmers may contact their local Agriculture Sub-Depot or Zonal Agriculture Office, or reach out to the Kisan Call Centre at 03192-243434.
