The Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 under the Aspirational Block Programme was formally launched at Car Nicobar Block in Nicobar District at a function held at Perka Community Hall on Monday. The time-bound initiative will continue till April 14, 2026.

Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 is an initiative of NITI Aayog aimed at achieving 100% saturation of identified priority development indicators through coordinated departmental efforts. The programme focuses on improved service delivery, convergence among departments, and measurable outcomes at the grassroots level.

Inaugurating the programme, Mr. Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, briefed the gathering on the six key indicators identified for saturation under the campaign. These include coverage of supplementary nutrition for children and pregnant women; proper growth monitoring of children at Anganwadi Centres; availability of functional toilets and safe drinking water in Anganwadis under ICDS; provision of adequate girls’ toilets in schools; and vaccination of bovine animals against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to take all necessary steps to achieve 100% saturation of the identified indicators within the stipulated timeframe.

Following the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner visited stalls and camps set up by various departments, including ICDS, Veterinary, Agriculture, Health Department and the Block Development Office. He interacted with officials and beneficiaries, reviewed the activities on display and discussed local issues with the Heads of Departments in the presence of Village Captains. Necessary instructions were issued for prompt redressal of the issues raised.

The Health Department conducted health camps offering diabetes and blood pressure check-ups, non-communicable disease (NCD) screening and TB screening. The ICDS Department showcased nutritious food items provided at Anganwadi Centres. The Agriculture Department displayed e-KYC services, seeds and saplings, while products made by Self Help Groups (SHGs) were also exhibited and made available for sale.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by the Block Development Officer, Car Nicobar.
