Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mr. E S Rajesh, President, Nicobar District, Bharatiya Janata Party met the Director of Transport, Andaman and Nicobar Administration on 31st of August 2021 and discussed issues pertaining to public transport in Great Nicobar Islands.
BJP Leaders informed the Director, Transport about the pathetic condition of the State Transport Busses at Campbell Bay and the sufferings that the residents of Great Nicobar have to go through each day because of the non-availability of good condition busses.
They informed the Director that it has been more than three years since a new bus was sent to STS Unit, Campbell Bay because of which the residents living in the far-flung villages of Great Nicobar like Laxmi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar are facing a lot of problems.
They informed that there is an urgent need to send busses to STS Unit, Campbell Bay for the convenience of the general public.
Director, Transport patiently heard the problems being raised by the leaders and assured that very soon two to three busses will be sent to STS Unit of Campbell Bay for the convenience of the general public.
The general public of Campbell Bay has been raising the demand for new busses for a long time because the old busses which are available with the STS Unit of Campbell Bay are in pathetic condition. The busses frequently break down during their scheduled trips and the passengers have to wait for the replacement bus to arrive before reaching their destination.
