The State Bank of India’s Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) has successfully concluded its 2-day Refresher Training Programme for 17 trainees from the Directorate of Rural Development (RD). The training, which began on November 4, was aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of Bank Sakhis, crucial to facilitating banking services in rural areas.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Mr. Ummar Farooq, Chief Manager of the UTLBC, and Mr. C. Raj, Director of SBI RSETI. Addressing the trainees, Mr. Farooq emphasized the vital role Bank Sakhis play in empowering rural communities by providing critical banking services. He further acknowledged their contribution to the financial inclusion drive in the region.

Mr. Raj applauded the trainees for their dedication to improving their knowledge of banking products. He noted that this training would help them better serve customers in the field, ensuring smoother operations and more efficient service.

A Bank Sakhi, typically a Self-Help Group (SHG) member, assists the Branch Manager by supporting SHG members with various banking services, including documentation, loan facilitation, and recovery processes. While Bank Sakhis do not handle financial transactions, their role in fostering better communication and service delivery at bank branches is pivotal to the success of the financial inclusion program.
