State Bank of India’s Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI) at Sri Vijaya Puram has completed a 35-day Junior Beauty Practitioner (Laghu Udyami) programme, empowering 34 women trainees from across the Islands with professional beauty care and small business management skills.

According to RSETI, the participants were trained in various beauty-related services and were also guided on managing and operating a beauty parlour. The course included awareness sessions on social security schemes, cyber fraud prevention, and MUDRA loan facilities. Field visits were organised to provide hands-on exposure to running a parlour.

Interacting with some of the trainees, Santosh Sahu, Regional Manager, SBI, encouraged the women to use the newly acquired skills to achieve financial independence. “The main purpose of such training is to empower women and make them part of the nation’s economic growth,” he said.

The trainees were also addressed by P.K. Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC, and Prathap, AGM, NABARD.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by C. Raj, Director of the Institute.
