SBI RSETI Concludes 38-Day Assistant Bookkeeper Training Programme

The State Bank of India–Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, has successfully concluded a 38-day training programme for Assistant Bookkeeper, conducted from December 23, 2025, to January 30, 2026. The programme formally culminated with a valedictory function held on January 31, 2026.

The training was attended by unemployed youth from various parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and aimed at enhancing their employability through skill-based learning in the field of accounting. Participants were imparted theoretical as well as practical knowledge on key accounting-related subjects, including GST filing, Income Tax filing, Government e-Marketplace (GeM) registration, and hands-on training in operating Tally software.

The valedictory function was graced by Mr. Santosh Sahu, Regional Manager, State Bank of India, and Mr. P. K. Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager, Union Territory Level Bankers’ Committee (UTLBC). Addressing the trainees, Mr. Sahu congratulated them on successfully completing the programme and encouraged them to utilise the acquired skills for income generation and self-employment opportunities.

Mr. Ummer Farooq appreciated the trainees for opting for a programme with significant demand and scope in the job market. He highlighted the growing need for trained accounting professionals, particularly at the grassroots and small enterprise levels.

Mr. C. Raj, Director, SBI RSETI, informed that 19 trainees successfully completed the programme. He also stated that the institute has made arrangements to facilitate placement opportunities for the trained candidates, reinforcing SBI RSETI’s commitment to skill development and livelihood generation in the islands.
