The State Bank of India-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in Sri Vijaya Puram kicked off a 30-day training programme on four-wheeler driving, aimed at empowering rural youth. The programme has enrolled 31 trainees, primarily from rural areas, including Self-Help Group (SHG) members, Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, and individuals from the Nicobari community.

The inaugural function saw Mr. B. Binoy, Deputy Director (Transport), highlight the vast opportunities available in the transport sector, such as working with aggregators, rental services, and bike rentals. He encouraged the trainees to utilize the training to secure a brighter future and aspire to become employers in the field.

Mr. Ummar Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC, emphasized the Government of India’s efforts to skill unemployed youth and make them self-reliant (Atmanirbhar). He further advised the trainees to attend all sessions, noting that the course is offered free of cost.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic gesture as Mr. Binoy, Mr. C. Raj, and Mr. Farooq jointly flagged off the first vehicle for the trainees. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks from Mr. C. Raj, Director of RSETI.
