SBI RSETI Organises 13-Day Training Programme on Geriatric Care in Sri Vijaya Puram

The State Bank of India Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, organised a 13-day training programme on Geriatric Care Takers, equipping participants with essential skills to provide care and support to elderly and bedridden patients.

The sessions were conducted by faculty members from the School of Nursing, G.B. Pant Hospital, who trained participants in elderly health management, personal hygiene, first aid, emotional support, and communication skills.

Dr. Shiny Varghese, Principal, School of Nursing, G.B. Pant Hospital, expressed happiness over the successful completion of the programme, which concluded just a day ahead of International Day of Older Persons. “The Islands will now have 35 more trained individuals in geriatric care,” she noted.

Congratulating the trainees, Mr. Ravi Sankar encouraged them to utilize the knowledge gained for both social service and self-employment opportunities.

Around 35 women, mostly from rural areas of Ferrargunj Tehsil, actively participated in the programme and successfully completed the training.

Welcoming the guests, Mr. C. Raj, Director of SBI RSETI, highlighted that the purpose of such programmes is to build local capacity for elderly care in the Islands. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. P.K. Ummer Farooq, Chief Manager, UTLBC.
