As part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the Department of Art & Culture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, organised an educational visit for school students to the National Memorial Cellular Jail on August 9, 2024.
A group of 50 students from Government Senior Secondary School, Manglutan, along with three teachers, were given a guided tour of the historic Cellular Jail. The students showed great enthusiasm as they learned about the jail’s significant role in India’s freedom struggle and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who were imprisoned there.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, running from August 9 to 15, 2024, aims to instill a deep sense of patriotism among citizens across the country. The initiative encourages individuals and institutions to hoist the national flag at their homes and workplaces to celebrate India’s rich history and the spirit of independence.
The visit to the Cellular Jail provided the students with a profound understanding of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters, fostering a sense of national pride and respect for the country’s heritage.
