Science Centre’s Holiday Camp 2025 Kicks Off with Enthusiastic Participation

The much-awaited Holiday Camp–2025, organized by the Science Centre, commenced on 2nd May 2025,  in its auditorium at Goodwill Estate, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across South Andaman.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr. Lalji Singh, Additional Director and Scientist at the Botanical Survey of India, Sri Vijaya Puram, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his inaugural address, Dr. Singh underscored the growing importance of science education in today’s world and encouraged students to seize the opportunity to explore, learn, and innovate. He also commended the Science Centre for its consistent efforts in fostering scientific curiosity and nurturing young minds through such initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shajan Thomas, Curator of the Science Centre, highlighted that this year’s camp will feature a wide range of engaging activities, including hands-on experiments, interactive sessions, and educational field trips. He informed that eight distinct scientific modules have been designed for the camp, each to be led by experienced educators and technical experts from the Science Centre.

The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Mr. Debashis Paul, Education Officer, who expressed hope that the camp would be both a valuable and enjoyable learning experience for the students.

Approximately 100 students, primarily from schools in South Andaman, are participating in the camp, which will continue till May 30, 2025.
