Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, A & N Administration, in compliance with a directive from the Hon’ble Court, is set to commence the second phase of Special Camps from April 22, 2024. These camps aim to identify and issue Ration Cards to eligible migrant labourers who have been left out.
Migrant labourers who are residents of the Union Territory (UT) of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, registered on the e-Shram portal of the Labour Department, and have not received their Ration Cards either in their native States/UTs or in the UT itself, are encouraged to participate in these camps.
To ensure effective execution, the Department has formed area-wise teams in close collaboration with elected representatives of respective Gram Panchayats and Municipal Wards. This collaborative effort seeks to reach out to every eligible individual and streamline the process of Ration Card issuance.
Furthermore, migrant labourers can also approach the Directorate of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Port Blair, and respective Supply Units of other Islands with the necessary documents required for obtaining a Ration Card.
It’s worth noting that with the implementation of One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) in the UT, migrant labourers registered on the e-Shram portal, possessing NFSA Ration Cards (AAY & PHH) in their respective States/UTs, are entitled to procure food grains from any Fair Price Shop within the UT without the need to transfer their Ration Card from their native States/UTs.
For further information and assistance, concerned individuals may reach out via the Toll-Free Number: 03192-230337.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the A & N Administration towards ensuring food security and welfare of migrant labourers residing in the Union Territory.
