Following a report published yesterday by Nicobar Times titled “Pujari of Shiv Mandir Rangat Held with 5.965 Kg Ganja at Sri Vijaya Puram Airport Exit Gate,” the Shiv Mandir Committee of Rangat has issued a significant clarification regarding the individual identified as Sushavan Mukherjee (Mukherjee Pandit).
According to the First Information Report (FIR No. 0006) filed by Anti-Narcotics Police Station on June 16, 2025, the arrested individual, Sushavan Mukherjee, also known as Mukherjee Pandit, identified himself to the police as “Pujari Shiv Mandir of Rangat” when intercepted at the VSI Airport Exit Gate. The FIR details that he stated his present residence as Dasratpur, Rangat, North Middle Andaman, with a permanent address in Santipur, Nadia, West Bengal.
However, the Shiv Mandir Committee of Rangat has unequivocally stated that Mukherjee Pandit is not their Pujari (priest), nor does he have any relation to the Shiv Mandir or its committee.
Furthermore, the committee clarified that Mukherjee Pandit is a mainlander and not a permanent resident of Rangat. This information from the temple committee aims to provide a complete understanding and clarify any potential misidentification regarding the individual’s association with the revered Shiv Mandir in Rangat.
Nicobar Times appreciates the Shiv Mandir Committee of Rangat for providing this important clarification and remains committed to accurate and comprehensive reporting, presenting all available facts to its readers.
