A six-month basic induction training program in forestry for newly recruited Forest Guards commenced at the Forest Training Institute (FTI) in Wimberlygunj. The program was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by several key figures in the forestry sector.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (ANI), who served as the chief guest. Mr. Ravi Horo, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (P&D), attended as the guest of honour. The function also saw the participation of Mr. Sanjay K. Waradkar, IFS, Chairperson of the FTI, along with other senior officers from the Department.
In his address, Mr. Sinha encouraged the trainees to approach their training with enthusiasm and to gain a deep understanding of the fundamental concepts of forestry and wildlife. He emphasized the importance of this training as the foundation for their future roles in forest conservation and management.
Senior officers present at the event also shared words of motivation, highlighting the significance of the training in preparing the recruits for the challenges they will face in the field. The trainees’ introduction and their sharing of experiences were notable moments during the ceremony, reflecting the diverse backgrounds and aspirations of the new recruits.
The Director of the Forest Training Institute, Mr. A.C. Tilak, ACF, welcomed the attendees, while Mr. Raju Rathore, an Instructor at the institute, extended the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those involved in making the event a success.
This training program marks a significant step in equipping the new Forest Guards with the necessary skills and knowledge to protect and manage the rich biodiversity of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
