The A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board, in collaboration with the Directorate of Industries, is set to launch a series of skill development training programmes aimed at promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship across the islands. The training sessions will cover a range of trades and are designed to equip participants with practical and marketable skills.
The training programmes include (1) the manufacturing of coconut shell handicrafts and (2) the production of handicrafts using pandanus leaves, coir, and coconut shell, both spanning 15 days. Additionally, (3) a two-week course will be offered on setting up and operating a fast food stall. For those interested in personal care services and animal husbandry, (4) a one-month beautician course and (5) a one-month training in poultry/dairy farming are also on offer.
These courses are structured with contemporary syllabi to ensure comprehensive skill acquisition, enabling participants to become proficient and well-rounded in their chosen trades. The initiative is particularly targeted at aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 45 years, who have completed at least Class VIII and are seeking to build a sustainable livelihood through self-employment.
Interested individuals are encouraged to enrol for the training by visiting the Office of the A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board at Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram during working hours on any working day. Residents living outside South Andaman can reach out to the Extension Office of the Industries Department in their respective areas.
Application forms can be downloaded from the url http://andaman.gov.in/Ann_all. Completed forms, along with the necessary documents, should be submitted in person or sent by post to the Office of the A&NI KVIB, Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram, no later than July 31, 2025.
