The District Child Protection Unit under the South Andaman District Administration, in collaboration with PANKH NGO, celebrated Navratri and Durga Puja on September 26 at Balika Niketan, Attam Pahad. The event was graced by the Director of Social Welfare and the co-founder of PANKH NGO.
The celebration began with the lighting of the ceremonial diya by the dignitaries, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness. The event aimed to foster spiritual growth among children and help them understand the significance of Navratri and the victory of good over evil.
A vibrant cultural program was presented by the children of Balika Niketan and Seva Niketan. The performances included portrayals of the nine forms of Goddess Durga, a skit depicting her victory over the demon Mahishasura, and a folk dance. The children also came together to perform Garba, sharing joy and enthusiasm with one another.
The program concluded with a message highlighting the values of courage, kindness, and faith that Navratri embodies. The dignitaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation for participating in the celebrations.
The South Andaman District Administration extended its best wishes to the children and staff of the Child Care Institutions, emphasizing the importance of celebrating festivals to spread joy and instill knowledge of India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
