In a decisive move to protect government land and ensure its proper utilization, the South Andaman District Administration carried out an encroachment drive at Atam Pahar recently.
During the operation, the revenue team discovered encroachments covering approximately 5,000 square metres of prime government land. The illegal occupation included eight temporary residential structures and multiple unauthorized fencing erected without approval.
To facilitate the smooth execution of the drive, heavy machinery, including a Hitachi excavator, was deployed. The encroached structures were systematically dismantled, and the area was cleared of all unauthorized constructions, restoring the land to its original condition.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public property and preventing illegal occupation. Citizens were urged to refrain from encroaching on government land and to cooperate with authorities in preserving public resources.
Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, issued a stern warning, emphasizing that the administration maintains zero tolerance for encroachments and will continue such operations wherever illegal occupation is identified.
Residents with information on encroachments or related complaints can contact the District Control Room at 03192-240127, 238881, 1070, or 9531888844 (WhatsApp). The identity of informants will be kept confidential to ensure their safety. (Story Based on PR)
