In continuation of its ongoing efforts to remove unauthorized encroachments, the District Administration, South Andaman, carried out an eviction drive on January 23, 2026, at Govindapuram and Shoal Bay villages under Ferrargunj Tehsil.
During the operation, encroachments on Government land as well as on Government roads were removed with the assistance of Revenue field functionaries. The drive was conducted in a smooth and orderly manner, ensuring the restoration of public property for its designated use.
As a result of the eviction exercise, approximately 0.20 hectares of Government land was retrieved and restored to the Government. In addition, obstructions on Government roads were completely cleared, facilitating free and safe movement for the general public.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Government land and public infrastructure from unauthorized occupation and appealed to residents to refrain from encroaching upon Government property. It stated that such eviction drives would continue in a sustained manner to ensure strict compliance with the law and to protect public interest.
