South Andaman District Administration Cracks Down on Illegal Earth Extraction and Transportation

In a decisive move against illegal activities, the South Andaman District Administration has confiscated two trucks transporting earth products without valid permits in Wandoor village. Authorities discovered a total of 30 cubic meters of illegally extracted earth—20 cubic meters dumped at the site and 5 cubic meters on each truck.

The violators have been penalized under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Land Revenue and Land Reforms Regulation, 1966, with a fine amounting to â‚ą44,000. The Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman has issued a stern warning, emphasising that such illegal activities constitute a serious breach of the law. The administration has vowed to take strict legal action against individuals or groups involved in unauthorised extraction and transportation of earth products.

To enhance vigilance, the District Administration has strengthened its public reporting mechanisms, urging residents to report illegal encroachments, mining, or construction activities. Reports can be made via the following channels:
