In a major crackdown on illegal land occupation, the District Administration, South Andaman, conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment operation on October 23 at Attam Pahar in Garacharma village, successfully reclaiming approximately 2,500 square meters of government land.

During the inspection, officials discovered several portions of the land had been unlawfully occupied, with makeshift fences and temporary structures erected in violation of government ownership. Acting on reports from vigilant field staff, a dedicated team of revenue officials, supported by ground personnel and earth-moving machinery, was deployed to dismantle and remove the encroachments.

The operation led to the removal of seven illegal structures, including six fencing setups and one temporary shed, restoring the land to its rightful government possession.

In a parallel effort, revenue officials cleared a temporary railing that had been illegally installed over government land at North Bay village. The action was carried out in the presence of the Revenue Inspector and police personnel, reinforcing the Administration’s zero-tolerance stance against encroachments.

The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, emphasized the Administration’s commitment to safeguarding public land assets and urged citizens to refrain from illegal occupation. The public has been encouraged to report any suspicious activity or encroachments to the nearest revenue office. Regular inspections and enforcement operations are planned in the coming weeks to ensure continuous monitoring and protection of government lands across the district.

For reporting encroachments or inquiries, the public can contact the District Control Room at 03192–240127 / 238881 / 1070 or via WhatsApp at 9531888844. Informant identities will be kept strictly confidential to ensure safety and encourage civic participation.
