South Andaman District Becomes the First in the Country to Achieve ISO 9001:2015 Certification for All Law & Order Establishments

In a groundbreaking achievement, all nine police stations of the South Andaman District, along with the offices of three Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and the District Superintendent of Police (SP), have been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification. This recognition, issued by the Quality Management Council of Kerala, highlights the district’s commitment to maintaining exemplary quality management systems.

The certification ceremony took place on June 3, 2024, at the Police Headquarters in Atlanta Point, Port Blair. During the event, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, presented the certificates to the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, and the Station House Officers (SHOs) of South Andaman District. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, along with other senior officers from the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and the Police Department.

Both the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police lauded the tremendous efforts of the South Andaman District Police. They urged the police force to continue their hard work and set a benchmark for other police forces to follow. The Chief Secretary specifically praised the consistent efforts of the A&N Police for their citizen-centric approach, recent technological advancements, capacity building, and several innovative measures.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification has been awarded to all nine police stations within the district: PS Aberdeen, PS Pahargaon, PS Chatham, PS Bambooflat, PS Ograbraj, PS Humfrygunj, PS Swaraj Dweep, PS Shaheed Dweep, and PS Hut Bay. Additionally, the offices of the Subdivisional Police Officers in South Andaman, Swaraj Dweep, Bambooflat, and the SP (D) SA Office have also received this prestigious certification.

This globally recognised certification acknowledges organizations that maintain exemplary quality management systems and demonstrate a commitment to excellence. It stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the South Andaman District Police staff in enhancing their operational efficiency, elevating public satisfaction, and instituting robust processes to ensure the delivery of prompt, citizen-centric, and reliable services.

The achievement of ISO certification underscores a pivotal advancement in the district’s relentless pursuit to provide quality police services, especially to those in dire need, and to foster a safer, more secure environment for all community members. This milestone reflects the unwavering commitment of the South Andaman District Police to serve and protect the public with the utmost professionalism.

The certification process was meticulously overseen by the Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) of South Andaman District, under the supervision of Ms. Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
