South Andaman District Police Cracks Down on Drug Peddlers and Ganja Smokers

In their ongoing efforts to create a drug-free society, the South Andaman District Police have taken decisive action against drug peddlers and ganja smokers, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

On February 10th, 2024, the Police Stations in the South Andaman District, specifically PS Aberdeen and PS Pahargaon, apprehend individuals involved in illegal drug activities. Acting on credible information, the PS Pahargaon team swiftly responded to an incident in the Attampahar area, where a person was spotted smoking a substance resembling ganja near a scrap yard. The suspect, identified as K. Mohit Swaroop, 27 years old, was found in possession of ganja. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance to be ganja, and Mohit Swaroop was promptly arrested. A total of 06 grams of ganja were seized from him.

Meanwhile, based on precise intelligence regarding the possession of Methamphetamine by Saurav Dhali, 22 years old, a proactive team from Police Station Aberdeen conducted a raid near the Government Senior Secondary School in School Line. The operation resulted in the apprehension of Saurav Dhali with 16.90 grams of Methamphetamine.

Following these arrests, two First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered at PS Pahargaon and PS Aberdeen against the accused individuals.

The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman, under the overall guidance of Niharika Bhatt, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

These decisive actions underscore the unwavering commitment of the South Andaman District police to eradicate the drug menace from society. They emphasize that strict actions against drug peddlers and the possession of drugs will continue in the region.
