In a swift and decisive move, South Andaman District Police apprehended two individuals who were discovered to be in possession of counterfeit Army Identity Cards and other fraudulent government documents, aimed at gaining access to defence establishments. The incident, which took place on October 21, 2023, led to the registration of a criminal case against the accused parties at Police Station Chatham.
Upon receiving a complaint, authorities swiftly acted, bringing the two suspects identified as Mayank Yadav, aged 21, and Rahul Chauhan, also aged 21, both hailing from Uttar Pradesh, to the Police Station Chatham for questioning. During a thorough examination, law enforcement officers uncovered a cache of counterfeit items in the suspects’ possession, including fake Police Character Certificates, manipulated photographs of themselves donning Army attire, and fraudulent Army ID cards.
In light of the damning evidence, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at PS Chatham, and both individuals were subsequently placed under arrest, with charges filed under the appropriate sections of the law. They were subsequently remanded to judicial custody at the district jail in Prothrapur as the investigation into the case continues.
