In a significant victory against crimes targeting children, the South Andaman District Police has secured the conviction of Kishov Ojha in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case registered at Police Station Ograbraj in 2022.
The case was investigated by Sub-Inspector Arti Roy under the supervision of then Station House Officer (SHO) SI Devanand Pathak. Their meticulous investigation laid a strong foundation for prosecution, which was further reinforced by effective arguments presented by Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Ms. Tasneem before the Hon’ble Special Judge (POCSO), Sri Vijaya Puram.
On August 21, 2025, the Hon’ble Special Judge pronounced judgment, sentencing the accused to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and imposing a fine of ₹10,000. The court also directed the State Government to provide ₹1,00,000 as compensation to the victim.
Police officials noted that the conviction highlights the synergy between dedicated investigation and strong prosecution, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in combating crimes against children.
The South Andaman District Police reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice and ensuring the safety and protection of children in the Islands.
