SP Cup-2025 Concludes with Thrilling Finale and Strong Social Message at Diglipur

The month-long SP Cup Football Tournament-2025, organised by the North & Middle Andaman District Police, came to a rousing close on Thursday at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur, with nail-biting finals, enthusiastic crowds, and a strong social message.

The tournament, which began on August 15, featured spirited competition across U-19 Boys & Girls and Open Men’s categories, showcasing the region’s growing football talent and community spirit.

The grand finale was attended by Superintendent of Police, N&MA District, Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, as Chief Guest, along with several government officials and local dignitaries. Their presence lent encouragement to the players and underlined the police’s commitment to promoting sports as a unifying force.

In a dramatic men’s final, Hi-Tech edged past NFC in a penalty shootout to lift the championship trophy, much to the delight of the cheering spectators. In the U-19 Girls’ category, GSS Keralapuram emerged victorious over GSSS Subashgram, while Old NFC triumphed against R K Gram Youth Club in the U-19 Boys’ final.

The closing ceremony, held at the Multipurpose Hall, Diglipur, featured prize distribution and a cultural programme, celebrating the efforts of players and organisers alike.

Adding a deeper dimension to the event, officials led by AC Diglipur Mr. Abhishek Gulia, SDPO Mr. Ankesh Yadav, and SHO Diglipur administered a collective pledge under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushaal Bharat’ campaign. Nearly 200 participants, including players, police personnel, Anti-Narcotics Task Force staff, and the public, pledged to work towards a drug-free and healthier society.

More than just a sporting event, the SP Cup-2025 served as a platform to nurture young talent, foster discipline, and strengthen community bonds, while spreading awareness about social responsibility.
