The North & Middle Andaman District Police inaugurated the much-anticipated SP Cup Football Tournament–2025 today at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder, amid great enthusiasm and community support.
The opening ceremony was graced by Ms. Lata Hegde Prasad, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Mayabunder, as the Chief Guest, and Inspector Abdul Sajid, SHO, PS Mayabunder, as the Guest of Honour. Their presence added both dignity and inspiration to the event, highlighting the Administration’s commitment to promoting sports in the region.
This year’s edition of the tournament features 12 competitive teams battling it out in a series of thrilling matches. The opening day witnessed exciting encounters, with Home Brothers taking on Wadow, followed by Karmatang Young Boys clashing with PSC. Both matches showcased exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and determination from the players.
Over 200 enthusiastic spectators filled the stadium, their cheers creating an electrifying atmosphere that boosted player morale and elevated the competitive spirit on the field.
Beyond the matches, the SP Cup–2025 aims to promote football as a vibrant sport in North & Middle Andaman, strengthen community bonds, identify emerging talent, and encourage youth to adopt fitness, discipline, and purposeful living.
