The North & Middle Andaman District Police successfully concluded the SP Cup Wind Ball Cricket Tournament (Season–II) with a finals-cum-closing ceremony held at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder, as part of the 74th Andaman and Nicobar Police Raising Day celebrations on 16th January 2026.
The tournament, which began on January 10, witnessed enthusiastic participation from nine teams across the district and concluded on January 16 after a series of competitive matches marked by high standards of discipline and sportsmanship.
The final match was inaugurated by Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, who attended the event as Chief Guest. She was accompanied by Guest of Honour Mr. S. Krishna Chaitanya, DANICS, Additional District Magistrate (HQ), along with Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, Mr. Chandan G. S., DANIPS, SDPO Rangat, and other senior officers.
In a closely contested final, ASM defeated Bengal Tigers to lift the SP Cup trophy and secure the cash prize. The runners-up team, along with recipients of individual awards including Best Player, Best Batsman and Best Bowler, were felicitated with trophies and certificates. All participating teams were also recognised for their spirited participation.
The district police expressed appreciation to all teams, organisers and supporters for contributing to the success of the tournament. The event not only promoted physical fitness and sporting excellence but also served as a platform to strengthen police–community relations.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the general public to share any credible information related to crime or illegal activities with the nearest police station or through helpline numbers 100, 112 or 03192-273344, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential and suitably rewarded.
