In a bid to strengthen police-public relations and address local concerns, a Jan Sunvai (public hearing) was conducted at the Panchayat Hall in Kishori Nagar on Saturday. The event was led by Ms. Shweta K Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police (District), North & Middle Andaman, accompanied by Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Diglipur, and SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat.

The session witnessed active participation from local residents who shared their grievances directly with the officials. The police officers patiently listened to the issues raised and assured timely and appropriate redressal. The interaction underscored the administration’s focus on transparent governance and community engagement.

In addition to grievance redressal, the event featured an awareness session on drug abuse and cyber crimes. The officers expressed concern over the growing trend of substance abuse among youth and its detrimental effects on families and society at large. They emphasized the need for early intervention, heightened community vigilance, and greater involvement of families and educational institutions in preventive efforts.

Highlighting their commitment to a safe and drug-free society, the North & Middle Andaman District Police urged public cooperation in tackling crime. Citizens were encouraged to report any credible information related to illegal activities to the nearest police station or via helpline numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. The identity of informants will be kept confidential, and suitable rewards will be offered for valuable leads.
