SP Shweta K. Sugathan Engages Public in Billiground, Stresses Anti-Drug Vigilance

In a bid to strengthen community-police relations and address public grievances directly, Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, conducted a “Jan Sunvai” (Public Hearing) at the Panchayat Hall in Hari Nagar, Billiground on Monday.

The event saw active participation from around 120 residents, including local leaders, youth, women, and senior citizens. Attendees raised a broad spectrum of concerns ranging from law enforcement challenges and traffic management to women and child safety, as well as various civic issues affecting everyday life.

SP Sugathan patiently listened to each grievance, offering immediate clarifications and on-the-spot assurances for appropriate action wherever feasible. The open forum promoted transparency and trust, reinforcing the police department’s commitment to responsive and community-centric policing.

In addition to the grievance redressal, SP Sugathan led an awareness session on the dangers of drug abuse. Addressing the gathering, she underscored the destructive impact of narcotics on individuals and communities, particularly the youth. She urged residents to remain vigilant and report any information regarding drug-related activities, assuring complete confidentiality and swift police response.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police reiterated their dedication to maintaining close community engagement and working collaboratively with citizens to ensure a safe and drug-free environment.
