As part of its ongoing efforts to promote clean energy and support socio-economically weaker sections of society, the District Administration, South Andaman, will organise a Special Beneficiary Identification Drive under the 30 MW Solar Rooftop Project, being implemented in RESCO mode under the ULA model of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY).

The initiative, launched under the Government of India’s ambitious solar mission, aims to provide energy security and self-sufficiency to households from economically weaker backgrounds by installing solar rooftop systems. These systems are expected to substantially reduce electricity expenses and dependency on conventional power sources while promoting environmental sustainability across the Islands.

The Special Identification Drive will be conducted at the Community Hall of Ograbraj and Mithakhari Gram Panchayat on October 8 and 9, 2025, to ensure maximum participation and convenience for the public.

Beneficiaries for the scheme will be identified from among individuals already enrolled under the following flagship programmes of the Government of India:

  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) – Department of Rural Development
  • Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) – Department of Civil Supplies
  • Ayushman Bharat Yojana – Directorate of Health Services

All eligible residents of Ograbraj and Mithakhari Gram Panchayats have been urged to actively participate in the drive and register themselves to avail the benefits of the 30 MW Solar Rooftop Project. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in advancing the vision of a sustainable and energy-efficient Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The District Administration has requested beneficiaries to attend the camp on the scheduled dates with relevant documents verifying their eligibility under any of the above schemes. For further information or assistance, residents may contact their respective Gram Panchayat Offices.
