In a major public health initiative, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched an ambitious campaign to achieve 100% screening of individuals aged 30 and above for diabetes, hypertension, and three major types of cancer—oral, breast, and cervical—by March 31, 2025.
As part of this mission, a Special Screening Drive is being conducted across all government healthcare facilities from February 20 to March 31, 2025 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The initiative aims to expand both population-based and opportunistic screenings, ensuring maximum coverage of at-risk individuals.
To facilitate this effort, screening services have been activated in all healthcare centers, including those in remote and island regions, reaffirming the government’s commitment to accessible and preventive healthcare.
Authorities are urging the public to take advantage of free screening services at their nearest health facilities. Early detection through this initiative is expected to play a crucial role in reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases and improving public health outcomes.
The ministry has emphasised that public participation is key to achieving 100% screening coverage and ensuring a healthier, disease-free future for the nation.
