Sports Events for Women to Mark International Women’s Day at Netaji Stadium

To mark the celebration of International Women’s Day – 2026, the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, in association with the Education Department and the Sports Authority of India, will organize various sports events for women on March 7 and 8, 2026 at Netaji Stadium. The events will be conducted from 8.30 am to 5 pm.

Interested participants have been invited to register their names with the concerned officials on or before March 7, 2026 by 8.30 am.

According to the programme schedule, volleyball (Open Category) and badminton (Singles – Open Category) competitions will be held on March 7, 2026. The volleyball event will be coordinated by Mr. Abdul Khalid, Volleyball Coach, who can be contacted at 9434290640, while the badminton competition will be organized by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Roy, PET, and interested participants may contact him at 9531954679.

On March 8, 2026, several athletic events will be conducted from 8.30 am onwards at the stadium. Participants interested in these events may contact Ms. Shamali Bairagi, PET, at 9531807157.

For participants in the age group of above 18 years to below 30 years, the competitions will include 100 metre sprint, 200 metre sprint, 400 metre sprint, 800 metre race, 1.6 km cycle race, 50 metre back run and 50 metre sack race.

For women aged above 30 years, the events will include 100 metre sprint, 200 metre sprint, 1200 metre walk, 50 metre spoon race and 1.6 km cycle race.

In addition to these competitions, several fun activities open to all participants will also be organized, including tug of war, passing the ball and musical chair. An aerobic and Zumba demonstration will also be presented by the ladies of the SYA Zumba Class as part of the celebrations.
