The State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA), operating under the Mission Vatsalya Scheme, is functioning at the Directorate of Social Welfare to streamline and support the adoption process in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Specialized Adoption Agencies (SAAs), registered with the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, play a vital role in facilitating adoptions for orphaned, abandoned, and surrendered children. These children are placed in SAAs by the Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit through legal proceedings to connect them with prospective adoptive families.
SAAs provide comprehensive adoption services, including counseling for Prospective Adoptive Parents (PAPs), preparing Home Study Reports, child profiling, matching and placement services, as well as post-adoption follow-up support.
