In a bid to promote awareness about adoption and child welfare, the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) organised a comprehensive program at the Anganwadi Center in Fisheries Colony, Dairy Farm. The event saw active participation from numerous women within the community, aiming to shed light on the vital aspects of legal adoption and safeguarding the wellbeing of children in the adoption process.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, the Director of Social Welfare, spearheaded the initiative by emphasizing the significance of legal adoption and outlining crucial measures required to ensure the welfare of children entering the adoption system.
Addressing prevalent myths and misconceptions surrounding adoption was Mr. G. Koteshwar Rao, the Program Manager of SARA. Rao emphasized the importance of providing accurate information to dispel misconceptions, thereby fostering a more positive perception of adoption.
Ms. Rehaneth Begum, Program Manager of the State Child Protection Society (SCPS), focused on discussing the welfare of children and their specific needs. Her insights aimed to cultivate an understanding of the responsibilities and challenges associated with adopting a child, while also highlighting the positive impact adoption can have on the lives of both children and adopting families.
Highlighting the role of adoption agencies, Miss Mamuni, Incharge of SAA, elucidated the responsibilities of these agencies in facilitating the adoption process. She emphasized their role in matching suitable families with children and providing continuous guidance and support throughout the adoption journey.
To ensure prospective adoptive parents were well-informed, Ms. T. Dharmila, Program Officer at SARA, elucidated the legal procedures and requirements associated with adoption. Her presentation aimed to equip potential adoptive parents with a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework involved in the adoption process.
The event served as an insightful platform, not only debunking misconceptions but also offering a holistic view of adoption, its significance, and the avenues it opens for transforming the lives of children and families. The engagement and exchange of information were pivotal in nurturing a more informed and supportive community for the cause of child welfare and adoption.
