State Institute of Education Port Blair Organises Induction Training Programme for Newly Recruited GTTs

State Institute of Education (SIE), Port Blair, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Education (RIE), NCERT Bhubaneswar, has initiated a crucial ’10 Days Induction Training Programme’ aimed at newly recruited Graduate Teacher Trainees (GTTs) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The program commenced on May 20 and will run until May 30, 2024, across various venues in Port Blair.

The primary objective of this intensive training initiative is to bolster the capacity of freshly appointed GTTs in areas encompassing content enrichment, academic activities, and classroom management. A total of 494 newly recruited GTTs and 50 resource persons from SIE, DIET Port Blair, and RIE, Bhubaneswar, are actively participating in this comprehensive Induction Training Programme.

The inaugural function, graced by distinguished personalities, saw Prof. P.C. Agarwal, Principal of RIE, Bhubaneswar, NCERT, as the chief guest. Ms. Archana Singh, Principal of GSSS Girls, along with notable resource persons including Prof. S.R. Sahoo, Head of Prof. English at DESSH, RIE BBSR, Dr. Saurabh Kapoor, Dr. Nomita Pachar, Dr. Sushant Singh, and Dr. Bhawana Vaishnav, Assistant Professors from various disciplines at RIE BBSR, were present during the event.

During his inaugural address, Prof. P.C. Agarwal emphasized the profound essence of teaching as a noble service to mankind and society. He underscored the pivotal role of educators in instilling social values, nurturing good habits, and serving as exemplary figures for their students. Prof. Agarwal further elucidated on the core themes of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, emphasizing the significance of fostering competencies in learners while ensuring holistic development rooted in Indian culture.

Prior to Prof. Agarwal’s address, Mr. R.K. Singh, Principal of SIE, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed gathering, highlighting the importance of the induction training programme for the newly recruited GTTs. He urged enthusiastic participation from all attendees, emphasizing the program’s role in shaping the future of education in the region. The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Mr. Velchezian, a faculty member at SIE, expressing gratitude to all participants and dignitaries for their invaluable contributions.

The ’10 Days Induction Training Programme’ stands as a pivotal step towards nurturing competent and dedicated educators who will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
