A State-level AI IMPACT Pre-Summit was successfully conducted at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) on Monday, serving as a curtain-raiser to the upcoming AI IMPACT Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, 2026.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members, students, researchers and start-up representatives from DBRAIT, Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE), Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), along with representatives from emerging start-ups across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Dr. Aparup Das, Director & Scientist-G, ICMR, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he spoke on intelligence and human evolution, while emphasizing the ethical dimensions and the need for responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in modern society.
Prof. (Dr.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT and Patron of the Summit, highlighted the key focus areas of the pre-summit, including the application of AI across diverse sectors, India–Japan collaboration for Smart Island development, and the growing significance of Large Language Models (LLMs) in the evolving AI ecosystem.
Earlier, Dr. Manu Vashishtha, Senior Lecturer, DBRAIT and Coordinator of the programme, welcomed the gathering and outlined the objectives of the event.
The technical sessions commenced with a lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Mansaf Alam from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The second technical session was delivered virtually by Mr. Nitish Singh, Data Manager, BharatGen, IIT Bombay.
The post-lunch session featured expert talks by Mr. Kailash S, Scientist-E, CDAC Chennai, and Prof. (Dr.) M. K. Dutta, Additional Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director, Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Amity University, who shared insights on emerging trends and future directions in Artificial Intelligence.
The pre-summit provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, setting the tone for the forthcoming national-level AI IMPACT Summit.
